Default tuning/wire harness question

a little back story before my question.

i have a 1996 s10 that i did a ls swap on. i am running a carb with a msd ignition box. the box plugs into my coil packs, map sensor, cam and crank sensor.

the truck came with an automatic 4l60e and has the computer and wiring to go along with it. (all in the main harness)

do you guys think it will be possible to use the factory harness/computer to control the transmission while the msd box controls the engine? i really want to clean up the OEM harness but i'm afraid of removing something that will make something else quit working. i HATE wiring.

or should i just scrap that idea and use my TCI/FAST transmission controller to work the transmission?

Why not use the TCI deal?

The factory PCM might be a bit over kill for just transmission duty.

i duno...because it's there and free lol. wouldn't mind selling the tci stuff and buying other parts to finish the build.

The factory PCM is going to want all sorts of information to determine transmission shift pressures, shift times, etc. Running that MSD box is going to isolate some/all of the inputs the PCM needs for the transmission, so it likely would not work as simple as you'd want it to. I would just use the TCI box.
