Default Where to buy a MAF sensor?

I need to buy a new MAF sensor because I yanked the screen out of mine and now I find out it wasn't a good thing to do. I called AutoZone and they have one for $70 with a core trade in ($60 core). Is this a good quality part or should I be looking for a factory part or a different supplier?

Guys sell stockers on here every now and then. If you can stand to wait a bit, look on www.car-part.com and see what you can find.

I really wouldn't worry about it unless it's giving you any problems, I yanked mine out and it does fine.

I dont know. When I bought my truck the guy before me took out the screen and I didnt think anything of it. But I heard some guys on here recently saying to put it back in. So I did I went out and got a new MAF. All I got to say is DAMN! I should have done that along time ago! The truck runs really strong now. After driving around having done both ways, Definitally keep the screen in. They put it there for a reason leave it alone

I'm guessing cause it's the way it's tuned but why don't Jet and Granatelli have screens but SLP does(SLP has a larger opening)?

From what Jesse at Wait4Me tune told me, the screen helps to straighten out the air flow that is going over the sensors in the MAF. The PCM can be tuned for the screen removal but it would be better to keep it. So back to my original question. Does AutoZone have a quality part or should I go elsewhere for it?

Hey Jody, My stock MAF is sitting on the shelf collecting dust (I run open loop SD). If you're interested in a maf in good shape and cheaper than new (plus no core charge), gimme a shout.

Screens: If your MAF is in a straight section of pipe (I think it was 12" on either side) then the screen doesn't matter. If the there are bends within 12" on either side, removing the screen is a bad, bad idea. Either way, I think you should leave the screen in -- that screen isn't impeding that much flow...
