Default What are my options?

Im new to this stuff so I have some questions.

I dont know any tuners in my area, so that seems less of an option for me.

Im staying away from the handheld ones beacuse of what Ive been reading on here.

I dont really want to try and learn to do it myself because I dont have the time/money to completely understand how to do it.

So I was thinking about doing a mail order tune. Yes or no? I was looking at the Wheatley site. When doing this, they send you the tuned one and then you send them your old pcm back right? I thought I read that a dealership tech wouldnt be able to know that the pcm has been changed. Is this true. Also when you get one of these tunes it doesnt mess up passing smog right? And what happens if you ever want to re-set the tune and go back to stock?

you have three tuning options locally that I know of, one of which is Rick@Synergy Motorsports in Newerk, about 40 minutes from you. He is a site sponsor too.

and the other two options are also local tuners? I checked out their website, and i feel like I would be wasting their time.. I dont have a high performance truck, Im just looking at what I could get for a basic tune.

lol, yeah. No, he tunes stock or highly modified the same. Your $ is as good as anyone else's. You will see a big difference after a good tune on a stock truck, no problem!

Do you know what his prices are? Im just wondering since my truck isnt modded a lot if getting a wheatley tune would just be easier than going to a local tuner.

Thanks for all your help trever1t, I appreciate it.

Hey TS77,

I had a mail order tune. I thought it felt pretty damn good. Read a bunch of stuff about Synergy on about 5 different forums and gave him a call. I had him re-tune my truck and it was night and day differnce from the mail order tune. Best money I ever spent on HP even with the loss of the original mail order tune. There are so many little details that can be extracted out of a tune when it's done live in person vs. a mail order tune.

Give Rick a call @ Synergy.

Rick
