Default What is best performance programmer for 2012 Chevy P/U 1500 Texas Edition with 6.2L

I am having trouble deciding on which brand to go with for programming my 6.2L. Is there anything special or a difference in a 6.2L and a 6.2L L92? I am guessing that the L92 might have an aluminum block or something different about it. I just want a performance programmer that will allow me to boost HP, change the tranny shift firmness and remove the speed limiter. I cannot stand all that hesitation between gears. Anybody have suggestions?

2WD, Crew Cab, 1500 Texas Edition, 6 speed tranny, 20" wheels, 6.2L, 3.42 axle ratio.

what he said. any of the tuners who sponsor this site are very competent and hard to go wrong with. for what it's worth i have a blackbear tune that i've been running for nearly a year and i've been very happy with it.

Mail order tunes are better than canned tunes. But a street or dyno tune is considerably better than that. If you post your location, I'd bet there's a sponsor near you that can help you.

^^^Xs 2^^^ if ur deadset on a handheld get a DiabloSport programmer thru a sponsor which will allow u to get email tunes from saved data logs .. From experience it is waaayyy better than any handheld can ever do .. And handhelds wont tune for CAI intakes and headers m cams n etc etc etc..If u have a tuner shop near u go that route it will get every HP out of it. I just like the convenience of emailing a log from home .. But thats just me .. i work nearly erry day so its convenient for my schedule or lack there off

As already mentioned avoid the handheld like the plague and find someone locally that can tune it in person.

Yup, a custom tune is way better and usually costs less; I am very happy with mine. And your engine, like ALL GM gas 6.2s, has an aluminum block. L92 is just another RPO code for a 6.2; there is also the L9H, the L99 (Camaro auto), and LS3 (for the Camaro stick and the Corvette).

Also, judging by your post, you are new to this site (I can't see your join date or post count on my phone). So, welcome to PT.net

Listen to these folks.

Back when I bought my truck I spent the $400 for a handheld cause 'I was gonna make it fast n ****'... little did I know about custom tuning.

Sold that puppy a year or so ago & now have custom tunes & an Autocal through BlackBear.

World of differences.
