Default Wanting to learn how to tune.......

I was wanting to learn how to tune before going back to the track @ the end of summer when the godd air gewts here. I have HPT and have read a lot but have so many questions to ask. I would rather learn in person then via PT or HPT sites due to lack of time on the computer. So I was wondering if someone close to the Austin area could help me(if ya want to) learn to tune. It already has been tuned after my mods and the PCM is unlocked too.

Thanks,

James

Oh I have money!!!!!!

Don't wait for someone to teach you, go buy some software (*cough* EFILive *cough*) scan your tune and start looking at it, comparing to stock, and reading. Then try one change at a time to see what happens.

Plus, there are a lot of great tutorials around and great help on the tuning software sights.

I have HPT already so no software needed. I don't have the stock tune because I've had it tuned again.

But thanks guys, I'll just read and read some more...HAHA!!!

Neither do you.

James, I know what you are talking about. Reading just doesn't get it easily. Just 20 mins with someone showing you the basic tables and how to manipulate the software is all you need to figure the rest out yourself over time.
That is if you have a good understanding of engine mechanics, effects and reactions to changes and exactly what the MAP, MAF, O2's etc. actually read.

Good luck!

also, go on HPT's site and download a stock tune from the tune repository and then use the "compare" feature to open 2 at a time and look at the differences.

Hey James, you can find your stock tune in the tune repository (at least there used to be an HPT repository when I was using HPT) or online I'm sure.

That's where I got mine after the laptop exploded

PLus, don't just read Make one small change at a time and see if you understand what it does (if ya don't then go read -- well after you curse of course!)
