Ve tuning in editor
#1
I'm using HP Tuners, version 2.22. I'm trying to tune my LTFT, i've made a log in the scanner and now I need to change the data in the editor VE Table. I have a main and a secondary table. Do I make the changes in the main table, the secondary table or both?

Are you running SD?
Either way,do both primary and secondary.
But remember primary VE goes in steps of 5kpa and secondary in steps of 10kpa.
Do you have a wideband?

I'm pretty sure both since, as I understand it, when you fail the Mass Air sensor it defaults to the second table, but the primary table is what is used during normal operation. Change it in the primary table then just copy over all of the even lines to the second table. Or if you're lazy, there are a couple excel files floating around that allow you to enter the data from the primary table and will give you all of the stuff necessary to copy over to the secondary table.
Just one more reason I'm glad I did the 02 OS swap.
EDIT: Damnit Charlie you're too fast

No, i'm not, running SD, but I thought about it, no wideband and I didn't get the HP Tuner pro cable. Give me a holler, i'm really interested in a good drive tune, I'm upgrading intake manifold and throttle body soon and e-fans, I'm going to try to get a harness built by someone local so I can control them in hp tuners. with dual ve tables the secondary needs to be indentcial to the primary VE table for the same cells.
also once you get your VE nice, smooth and spot on then enable maf and dial that in. if not the maf will thru the file off

This is just my opinion, but tuning with trims is not really a good idea to dial in your airmass tables (ve and maf)... IMO you should use a wideband to dial in your airmass tables (ve an maf) then use you trims to adjust your O2 switchpoints... Last time I retuned my truck, I used my wideband and once I was done my trims were off, about 10% at idle, 5%in cruising cells and another 3% in high load areas. If I would have used just my trims, my airmass calcs would have been pretty far off... Once again just my opinion...

I'm just trying to get em close right now and learning, I don't have a wideband, and I'm doing some more mods on the truck soon so I need to be able to get them in the ballpark. After that I'm going to try and get a live tune, Maybe by Wheatley, but for sure by a pro since I don't know enuff yet and I want it to be right.
