Default tuning out p0442?

I'm poping a p0442 code lately and out of curiosity can I just have my tuner turn this off and pass an emissions/inspection test?

its probably your gas cap that is bad. its a leak detection for your emissions, small leak.

Gas cap tested good at local inspection station, but looked dirty. So I washed the cap and filler neck throughly. If this doesn't work a local shop can do a smoke test for $70 dollars. I traced all of the lines best I could and didn't find anything suspect. Any ideas are appreciated.

you may have a cracked intake? Good luck and please report back with your findings.

Smoke test is the best way to solve this issue.

If it is a cracked intake wouldn't the engine run funny and afr be off? Might just go ahead and do the smoke test in a few days. Thanks for the replys.

Default Update

I wanted to give an update to this prolem since alot of these threads end with no solution. After talking to several people I decided to go ahead and replace the solinoid at the back of the gas tank since the gas cap tested good and there were no obvious cracks or loose connections. Here is a pic of the old part. The new one is just like it except it has an external filter.
