Default Torque converter question

I have access to a lift this week and I have a torque converter that has been in storage for a while. The only mods on the truck are a performance tune, intake, and cat back exhaust. The trans has not been opened up, it will get a shift kit and servos eventually, but not at this time. Will it be alright if I go ahead and put in the converter now and leave everything else as is for the mean time? Or should I wait until I do the headers, shift kit, servos, and cam kit and get is re-tuned? I'm also going to post this in the trans sections, so mods if that's a problem I apalogize.

it will help your 60' times tremendously even without a tune or that other stuff.

that was the first mod i did.. the tune will mainly control when your TC locks, adjust line pressures, and shift points,etc.. as far as the trans tuning goes.

cute truck, BTW

I'd go ahead and install the converter! The others mods are good important but the converter has the fun factor.

+1... I installed my TC last, which if I had to do it over again, it would have been first.....

The stall is listed at 2400, triple disc Vigilante. I'm just wondering if it's going to be an issue without a shift kit or servos, everything I've done in the past had all 3 done at once.

Mine is supposed to be 2600 (Vigilante 9.5"), but last night I brake stalled up to 3400 (fun in 4x4!!!!). I am not a transmission expert, so I don't know if you should do them all at once.

Nice, its due to all that torque your hitting the TC with. That 2600 stall speed was obviously for a naturally aspirated application. Hitting a 2600 TC with big block torque will give you higher stall speeds, just like if you put it behind a small V6 you would get lower stall speeds.

That why I'm using a stock 4.3 L35 V6 TC behind my stock longblock Vortec 5.7 and getting a 2700-2800 stall speed. at WOT rear tires locked.

I would LOVE to have the boost you have.

peace
