Should i get a tune?
#3
A nelson Tune is God over a hypertech AKA hypercrap. A handheld programmer is based on a specific model vehicle under specific driving conditions and mostly stock parts as to a Nelson Tune or custom tune which is made for your vehicle based on your driving habits and modifications. Theres no question on which one to choose when it comes to tuning. Everyone could use a custom tune, whether it is for performance or fuel mileage.

i will put it to ya like this...
I have a Hypertech PPIII that is sittin in my closet.
I got EFI Live several months ago.
With just my current tune, just some tranny changes, and a Timing Table from "Goshawk23", it is like compairing apples to oranges.
I could post up the Hypertech 93oct tune compared to stock and my current one. That away you could see the difference.
Hypertech only changes the timing a few degrees across the board, not in certain spots that you might need it. and you only have a few MPH to change for shift points and only up to 6200rpms for the rev limiter... stuff like that.
But sell the hypercrapper on Ebay or something and get hooked up with Nelson or a tuner!!

Get a tune....I just gained 4 mpg with a tune and a noticible seat of the pants gain even with only 25% Torque Management removed. Torque Management if you do not already know is basically the computer pulling timming out when you hit the gas to the floor (loss of power). It is said to be there to save the driveline, so I only removed 25% due to the automatic trans and 10 bolt rear in my truck being weak.

I'll have a tune in everything I drive from now on... its dumb not to IMO... use the search feature PLEASE to find out more about different tuning. This has been covered about a ka-zillion times.
