Default Shopping for a new tune...in person OR Dyno?

I am going to be getting a new tune soon, have 3 PCM's with various tunes and still wondering if maybe there is more potential left in my good ole heavy Avalanche.

Over the past day or so ive talked to a couple of well known tuners in Texas and wondering...1 does tuning and the other does dyno tuning. With that said what should I go for? In person tune or a dyno tune?

Heck I can't find a dyno tune... Only places that do street tunes with efilive... I'm starting to like the idea of a street driving tune though cause it mimics normal street driving... It may do things on the street that it just wont do on a dyno... Like hills...

a tuner can only do so much to achieve horsepower without making mechanical changes ( parts ), why dont you take the 3 pcms to the track all in the same day or night, run each one a couple of times, do some comparisons!!

I've actually dyno-tuned 3 of my own old vehicles (and one friend's car), after spending some time "street tuning" each of them. Each have gained at least a little bit of PEAK horsepower and torque after dyno-tune, but none have made me ever say I definitely "needed" to do that...I agree that a dyno will never accurately mimic actual street driving conditions no matter what type dyno it is.

If my only choice was street tune OR dyno tune...one or the other, I'd definitely choose street tune. Especially since we street drive a whole lot more than we drag race, generally speaking. I've spent a ton of time tweaking (street tuning) my truck's tune, and while it's no drag racer or dyno queen, it definitely runs 100% better than stock. Like skeet said above, a tuner will only get you so much and sooner or later you'll hit a plateau where it's time to make some mechanical changes, or just shut up and drive it, lol. That's where I am at.
