Default Questions on Wester's tune

Hey guys i have a westers tune and it sucks i'm thinking about getting hptuners for my truck and having it dyno. My question is can i read a westers tune through ls1 edit, efi live, hptuners with the westers programmed pcm? also is it locked, to where i will have to where i would either have to get him to unlock it or get another pcm? Also what is the deal with the 99-01 pcms should i just buy an 02 pcm? and insight is appreciated...

thanks
tyler

Wester locks all of his tunes. He's the only one that can unlock it. You could send it to him and ask him to reflash your stock tune and leave that unlocked, but he won't unlock it with his tune in there. The desirable PCM's for your truck are either the 01 or 02 PCM, they are equivalent, they are just referred to as the "02 PCM". To tune another PCM you'll either be stuck with the VIN on it, or have to have a license for both your's and the one on it to change the VIN, or any tuning shop can do it for a nominal fee.
