pcv valve disconnected during tune

pcv valve disconnected during tune
so i have learned that the old pickup was tuned with out the pcv hose connected to the valve cover... 
what problems could this cause?? this thing was pulling a mad vacuum when i found it flopping around... think it would run better with a re-tune?
