Default pcm swap to run new engine??

Okay here is the deal. I just droped a LQ9 into my Tahoe. Its runing DBC with 5.3 intake & injectors. I was told it was all interchangeable, and the truck runs great like a bat out of hell. I do understand I will need a custom tune to remove tq management etc. Which I do have planed for soon.

Right now, since I had not spun the engine over 3k rpm with the 5.3 pcm. I guess my question is this.. I can obtain a pcm for 02 escalade that came with a lq9. But AWD, and DBW. Will I be able to still use this pcm with my Tahoe which is a 01. The LQ9 pcm will be from a 02 Escalade. Will my DBC and 2wd interfare with the running of the engine? Will I be able to go WOT, with more fuel being fed.

Just wanted to be clear before I go out and purchase the pcm for 40$

You just need to get your PCM retuned for the new engine. When you get it retuned they will give it more timing, and take out the tm and what ever else you want them to do, like shift points ect.

You will be better off to have someone flash your PCM with the proper calibration for the 6.0L. The DBW PCM from the Escalade will not play nice with the cable operated throttle body, as the Escalade throttle body doesn't have an IAC motor like the one from the 5.3L in your year model. The AWD part doesn't matter as the '02 models used a NVG-149 and they are mechanical in nature and nothing in the PCM controlled them, but that is irrelevant now. Besides all that, you would really like the PCM to match your VIN anyway for the VATS and if you had someone flash it to turn the VATS off, you’re back to might as well having your current PCM flashed to begin with.

Thats the answer that explains it all. The main hangup is the dbw vs dbc. I get it now. I need a custom tune asap. Thanks for all the help guys.

Just throwing this out, as Iam tight, but still a lil skeptical. After doing more research, I figured out the 2003 Express 6.0 vans were DBC! They also came with 3.73 gears. So my other question now, as I can get any pcm from my salvage for cheap $40 vs $400 local dyno at the moment.

Can I run the 2k3 express pcm for LQ4 to run the LQ9 for time being? What is the main differences? I suspect Ill be down on timing, but will I be able to WOT>? If I am ignorant I apologize.

I use strickly premium btw.
