PCM Swap - Need Help!
#1
Alright guys, swapped my 99 PCM out with an 02 and now I am getting Reduced Engine Power when i start the truck.. The only thing I did was swap the PCM.. Any Ideas??
TIA
Ok I finally got to scan my truck and I am getting code p1518.. I have searched the internet and from what ive read people able to clear it and everything is fine.. I have been unsuccesfull at clearing this code.. My scanner says function successfull, but when I crank it up, it still does the same thing.. I have contacted Allen, but was just seeing if you guys had any idea..
TIA

Might need the crank relearn done...I had the same problem with my first 02 PCM. Swapped it in and started it up and it ran horribly and the "reduced engine power" lit up. Had the crank relearn done and the code cleared and that was the whole problem.

My first time around I met up with Bryan from PCMforLess and he did it for free. When I swapped in my backup PCM (I keep a spare so I always have one to send out for upgrades without losing any down time), I went to the dealer and they charged me $40, took them about a minute. If the crank relearn is all that it ends up being, and you do go to a dealer to get it done, make sure to tell them that all you want is the code cleared and the crank relearn. When I brought mine in, they asked me if I wanted my PCM reflashed with any available updates (glad they asked first!), which would have over-written the custom tune!
