I am waiting to see your posts. What kind of tune did you go with, 87 octane or the one with the 93 octane?

91 octane. But I am waiting for Allen to call me when he is actually doing the tune. Melissa said he will call while he is doing the tuning. 93 octane is nowhere to be found around here, 92 is the highest and most places only go up to 91.

I need to confirm this with Allen as well as a few other questions I have, so hopefully he does call before he finishes them.

We have 93 down here in Chicago. When I pull the trigger on the tune I will go with the higher octane. I did this with my 05 Mustang GT and it really brought the car to life. Hope it does the same for our trucks!

hes a top notch guy and they are really cool to work with.

Very coincidentally, while I was reading this post, my cell phone rang and it was Melissa telling me my modules were tuned and being sent out today. I did want to talk to Allen, so he is supposed to call me back. I think he only removed between 60-80% TM and I am not sure about Tow/Haul mode?

Default I Received My Tune Today

I received my tuned ECM/TCM from Nelson today. I am hoping to get it put in tomorrow afternoon. I am new to this and have never done this before so I am looking for pointers and have a few questions also. Please post any pointers, ideas, things to watch out for or be careful of, etc.

Here are my questions:

1. The paperwork said the ECM is locked, but it is my understanding that the E38 ECM is not lockable. Is this true or is my ECM locked?
2. I have heard conflicting opinions regarding Crank Relearns. Nelson told me only about 1 in 20 need it done and if it needs one it will throw a SES code. But reading several threads in multiple forums, I have heard you should do a Crank Relearn ANYTIME you put in a new ECM regardless of whether or not you get a SES code. Could someone please confirm and explain.
3. What is the "Pass-Key" relearn procedure? I have not installed them yet and do not know if I will need this or not, but would like to be prepared.
4. Any pointers for the Idle relearn? The directions were a little confusing.

Thanks alot for any info you can provide me. As you can see, I am just a little bit nervous about swapping computers in my $40K truck.
