Default Nelson Tune on the way!

Well, I finally pulled the trigger. It was a VERY tough call between Wheatley or Nelson. But Nelson's exchange program tipped the scale for me. I am sure both of them do awesome tunes, so it was a tough call. Should have it in a week or so according to Allen.

Just sold my Edge Evolution today too. Got $275 for it after paying $330 (after $50 rebate) for it in Sept. So, I didn't lose too much money on it. I won't badmouth the Edge though. It did what I expected it to. It was a huge improvement over stock, but from I have read (which is quite a bit) handhelds do not compare to a custom tune. I never really got used to the whole "pod" thing on the dash either. I ended up turning the backlighting off and eventually taking it out altogether after the "Gadget" factor wore off. Looks much nicer without that "growth" sticking out of my dash.

you'll be a happy camper. Nelson dropped me 1 sec in the 1/4 with his tune alone. And Wheatley is a hell of a tuner too.

I am mostly looking forward to the lack of throttle lag due to all of GM's DBW "Nannys". I don't race my truck, so 1/4 mile and 0-60 times aren't all that important to me. But throttle response and access to the power when I want it will be nice to have back again.

Oh, and surprising a few cocky Tundra drivers will be fun also.

What did you have him do in your tune? How much TM was removed and can abuse mode be completely removed? I am on the fence about where to get my tune and would like to get as much info as possible. Also did he have PCMs to send you?

He can/will remove as much TM as you want him to. I believe he is removing 80% on mine. He does remove all of the Abuse Mode crap though. He has ECM's with more coming in and is currently waiting for a shipment of TCM's.

Check out his website, he explains his Exchange Program pretty well on there. It basically works like NetFlix. He sends you modules, you return the stock/old ones within 14 days. This way there is never any downtime waiting for modules to show up. If you want your tune tweaked or need a stock tune for dealer service, call him and he sends you new modules, you swap them out, then return a set within 14 days. Sounds like a cool system to me. I was concerned about the Crank Relearn required for new modules, but he said only about 1 in 20 times it'll throw a code and needs to be done. So, if you do swap modules often, this could potentially become a hassle. If this happens, I will get my own second set of modules and just swap between them since the Crank Relearn is only req'd one time per module. I don't foresee this to be an issue though because once I get the tune the way I like it, I will leave it alone. I don't plan to make too many more mods, maybe an exhaust and new wheels/tires. Dealers will not see the tune, but could write over it since he does not/cannot lock the tunes on the new E38 ECMs. But if that happens, he will send you a new set of tuned modules for only the cost of shipping.

I may decide to buy HP Tuners for myself someday too, but not sure about that yet? But if I do, at least I will have a tune for reference to get started.

Thanks for the info. I will probably go with Nelson when I go back to work. I will be watching for you to post how it works out for you.

You will be happy with nelson, wheatley is a great tuner also, have never heard anything horrible about either one.
