Default Need opinions!!!

I have a buddy with a 97 Z71. He just had the 350 vortec bored .30 over and a bigger cam that has a slight lope at idle, he runs 35's with 3:73 gears. The problem is it has to get rolling before it comes alive. The builder left the stock converter instead of going with a higher stall. The computer was sent to jet performance to get tuned for the cam.Is his problem more from the converter or the gears? It runs great just a dog out of the hole.

probably both. 35s optimally need 4.56s for good performance. and if it has a bigger cam id say he should get a 26-2800 stall

Yea the gears was a question of mine but he claims it had good power before the build. Then I asked about the stall and he said it wasnt changed. Will the I6 tb converter be good in that it has an 4l60?

Gears then Convertor if you want. Get atleast 4.56's, but avoid high stalls in 4x4's as they can get pretty hot getting over objects. Use the lowest rpm range that works with your cam.

Gears, converter, and lose the JET for a custom tune. Hopefully his cam isn't too big for the injectors.

I told him the same about the jet program. I just had my 06 tuned by Justin (black bear performance). Custom tune is the way to go.

You can't run an I6 TB converter on that truck btw...

Vortec 350 is LT1 style, not LS.
