any more info? miles, mods, misfires?
the best i can gather is that either one of your position sensors need to be replaced, or your timing chain is doing something it's not supposed to.

Miles are 80XXX no mods, no misfires the only thing i notice is sometimes when im going to start it up it turns and then starts. can you tell me where those (if more than 1) sensors are located?

i'm pretty sure the cam position sensor is at the top of the block right under the back of the intake mani. that one should be replaceable with the motor in the truck. the crank position sensor is near the back of the engine block, on the passenger side, near the starter. you have to pull the motor to replace that one IIRC.

cool thanks man ill look into that, the previous owner said he sent the truck out to get the intake manifold's gaskets replaced because of somesort of leak. He said unless the mechanic forgot to plug something in thats all the info i have from him.

What kind of truck is it? I searched it on google and kept getting 98 and older trucks that had problems with the distributors.

IT is a 99 chevy tahoe limited i checked the cap and rotor and it showed allot of wear so i replaced that and the cam sensor, cleared the code and same thing in a matter of seconds it comes back on.... So i might check the timing maybe? or and changing the crank sensor

itsa vortec motor. its out of time. have the timing set and the light will stay off. very common after intake gasket replacement. you need a scanner to synchronize the cam and crank sensors. crank sensor is in the timing cover and the cam sensor is the pick-up in the distributor. nothing is wrong with the sensors its just not timed correctly.
