Default Max timing to run?

I remember reading somewhere that in the LS motors, once you get over some amount of timing advance you don't make any additional power. What was that number?

My personal opinion is in the 28-29* range. I don't ever add more than that. The more efficient the engine, the less timing you'll need to make best power.

These were taken fom another site by Nelson, Stock LQ4 engine only. I didnt know how to put up his link. He wanted to see what timing did as it was increased:

Stock - 14-16degs : 311hp/351tq
Tuned- 20 degs : 350hp/380tq
Tuned- 25 degs : 356hp/390tq
Tuned- 30 degs : 357hp/392tq

Fully tuned with a/f ratio and max timing of 31 degs:
367HP/401TQ

Gains: 56HP/50TQ

damn! This is just with tuning?! Stock only has 14-16*s of WOT advance? If so, no wonder my truck is a dog.

There is no magic number that applies to all engines. With your modified setup, the only way you'll be able to find the minimum best torque value for timing is to hop on a dyno and remap the high octane spark table.
