Buy a used Dell e1405 or 6000. You can usually find one in great shape with wifi and everything you'd need for $250 or less.

I would be wary of dell. I have had two, one real new die and an older one die-bad hard drives.

the acer mini looks awsome, but will it work for tuning??

Not sure which ones you have, but I have seen tons of Dells hold up to some pretty serious abuse. I have dropped, kicked, stepped on and pretty much everything you can think of to my Dell E1505 and it has held up to this date. I can only hope it will hold on for another year or so.
