Kinda curious as to what laptops you guys are using to Scan and Tune with??
Right now ive been using my Company Dell Latitude D820.
It has sensitivity issues, if you pick it up from the corner it goes haywire... Sucks.
I have a older Dell 1150 or something but it has USB port Issues..
Im lookin at the Dell Mini: $549
Windows® XP Home Edition
512MB DDR2 at 533MHz
8GB Solid State Drive
Intel® Atom Processor® N270 (1.6GHz/533Mhz FSB/512K cache)
Glossy 8.9 inch LED display (1024X600)
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950
Wireless 802.11g Mini Card
32WHr Battery (4 cell)
Or the Asus from Bestbuy.. $379
Intel® Celeron® processor with 900MHz processor speed
1GB DDR2 memory for multitasking power
8.9" WSVGA TFT-LCD widescreen display with 1024 x 600 resolution
16GB solid-state disk hard drive; shock-proof design
Intel® GMA graphics with shared video memory
Built-in 1.3MP webcam
Built-in 3-in-1 media reader
3 high-speed USB 2.0 ports
Built-in high-speed wireless LAN (802.11b/g); 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet LAN
Weighs only 2.2 lbs. and measures just 0.8" thin for lightweight portability; lithium-ion battery
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Never heard of Asus, but They have some great reviews, Battery life is 7-8hrs.
Comes with alot of stuff.
The Dell i would put more faith in, cause ive never heard of Asus.
So lemme know what yall got or think..

Asus is
i only use their motherboards, i have tried alot but i stick with them.
I was looking at laptops today too, i was thinking about the budget ones also because tuning is all i would use it for.
I would go with the dell because its faster(meaning it may delay the time when you start kicking yourself because its slow!) I know asus has a upgraded version that runs pretty close with that dell i would check that out too.

yeah that link was for the old one, this one has a better processor and more ram. it is closer to the dell.
If you go with the 900mhz, you might be dissapointed, it will be slow.
I was just thinking though if you turn off all the frills and effects, and just keep it simple it should handle tuning just fine

I have an Asus Eee 900mhz. As others have said, its not fast but, it runs HPT well and logging is no problem. I use it with a wideband (PLX) if that matters.
Got it for two reasons, GPS mapping software and something small for logging and tuning. It has worked out well for it's intended uses.
It has a few little quirks to deal with, like no 12V power supply, I use an inverter with the power supply that came with it. Loading software needs to be done from a flash drive or over a network connection (That shouldn't be a surprise).
Smoothing a VE table can be challenging, it has a rocker on the mouse (touch pad) buttons. That makes zooming difficult. You can do it, hold the right button and tap the pad just right and zoom. The small screen doesn't help with smoothing either.
Even with it being a little slow, I use it more then I thought I would. Heck I'm using it now. I don't think 8gig is a big enough drive to run XP, unless you strip some of the unneeded parts out. I used up 8gig getting everything I wanted on this thing. I could have left some stuff off but, I'd miss it.

I picked up this one about a month ago
160 gb 5400rpm HD
1.9ghz AMD Athlon x2 Processor
Vista Home Premium
2gb Ram
15.4in HD widescreen
Double Layer DVD R/W w/lightscribe
The ONLY thing I wish it had would be a memory card reader ie SD cards but other than that it has everything that I would personally want in a pc.
Seems to work great with our software thus far and for a price of only $379+tax it was an awesome deal IMO
