Default Issues after throttle body swap

I need some help from you guys regarding my truck. I got the TPS code a few weeks ago so I decided it was a good time to upgrade my throttle body to the LS3 unit 12605109. After the swap, my truck has been acting funny. It started idling high at first, so I did the idle relearn. That helped a little but it still does it occasionally.

The biggest factor is that it seems my torque converter is not unlocking at stops. You can feel it being forced to unlock when slowing to about 5 mph. It will accelerate on its own because of this also. It will lock and then just take off. I'm sure it's not good for the converter as it causes my transmission temps to soar ( about 185 tonight when it was only 65 out). If I put it in neutral when the converter is locked, it causes the idle to soar to about 3k rpm.

There is no vacuum leak, as I am sure that may be suggested. It will idle perfectly fine with the converter unlocked or in P or N if you let it settle down.

From my research a throttle relearn from the dealer may be in order but I'm trying to avoid that because my local dealer wants $110 just to look at it. I have tried driving it a good bit for it to learn itself but it doesn't seem to get better. I'm not sure if that is something Blackbear could do for me if I sent my stuff in.

I did buy a brand new TB but I did notice finger prints on the blade. I hope the packer did not get the bright idea to force the blade open.

Thanks for reading my novel and any help is appreciated.

Here are the pics. You can see in the one photo the fingerprints on the blade.

blackbear and I chased this issue for a while on my truck, but with the factory TB, it was after my cam swap
he refers to it as a "run on" and was saying he had to play with the air cracker tables, took him about 4 tries to finally get it right! and now that I did the heads I'm getting a RPM surge when coming to a full stop, not up to 3K but definitely enough that it'll push the brakes

Thanks for the help Jeremy. I'll shoot Justin an email and also see if anyone else has any insight.

I'm not sure if this applies to your application or not, but when I performed this same upgrade to my 2005 silverado, I had to also swap out the tac module for the application that the throttle body was for. I ended up using a tac module for a 05 GTO.

Based on what I have read, that isn't necessary. Most guys just swap and drive. Some have issues like me, but I'm not sure what causes them.

2005 was a complete different situation. I think his issues are tune related.

What code were you getting with your original TB? Make sure there are no air leaks at all in your intake system. Take the engine cover off, and listen for anything at all leaking, and spray around the intake with starting fluid to see if you find something. Can you log the actual throttle position of the blade to see if there is a difference of what is commanded?

What is everything that is done to the engine?

Was the original code a 2135?
