Default Idle surging after driving then dies

My truck has all the bolt ons, 220 cam, 9.5 3800 stall. The problem started after the converter got put in a few months ago. The truck will start surging(rpms start to jump up and down) real bad and will want to shut off if i do not put it in neutral and give it a little gas. It will only do it after i drive for a while with out a lot of stop and go, like if i get on the interstate and drive for like three exits and then get off and stop at a red light. It will also do it if i pull in a parking spot and give it a little gas and let of quick to hit the brake. I also noticed sometimes while waiting in traffic it will start to surge for about 30 seconds and then stops.

I had a friend raise the base running air flow but when i start the truck it flares up to 2500 rpm then back down. It helped a little but there has to be a better way to fix it. I am going to get the file, i do not have it right now.

Thanks for any help

The idle airflow needs to be tuned the correct way after your ve and maf are tuned.

After a cam swap to get the car or truck idling on it's own I add 2-3 g/sec to the whole idle airflow table for starters then I tune the ve and maf to get my trims within 3% and then do some RAF tuning which takes a little time and patience if you want to do it right and have a good idle.

Sounds like the desired airflow table like others have mentioned, also you will need to look at the Throttle Cracker table...

Is this truck "drive by wire" or does it have a cable?
