Default Getting a Basic Tune What Should I Have Done?

Im gonna have them remove abuse mode, TM, and turn off the rear o2s so I can run without cats. Calibrate the speedo for the 4.56 gears. Set the shift points to 6400rpms and the rev limiter to 6500.

Thats all I can think of. Am I forgetting anything?

what are your mods?

6400 rpms seems pretty damn high.

Its a stock 4.8L. From the dynos Ive seen theyre still pulling to 6500. Thats like 5800 for a 5.3.

Wow, the 4.8s can rev that high and still make power? Even with the truck intake?

I would set it for 5900-6000 if it is stock... I only shift my 4.8 to 6300....

maybe you shifting too low.

I might settle for 6250rpms shifts. The ratios are wide. After the shift the rpms will be under 4k and wont be making much power.

2ksquirrel sez his was shifting at 6300rpms and his is all stock except for an intake. I plan on cutting the cats, so I think that might raise the powerband another 100rpms.

who is doin your tune?

yea they still make power that high but its on a down slope after 5600? rpms.

I was shifting my stock 5.3 @ 6200, 6100 and 6000 and it ran the exact same time. so I left it alone at 6k.

the tuner should know what he is doin anyway. let him know what u want and listen to his suggestions.

Is there anything in the tune that controls the opening rate of the drive by wire throttle body?
