Whats the point in paying for a tune at all if you're not going to get your moneys worth? Credits cost the same for the tune regardless, so you're basically just giving the guy money for doing nothing.

Im gonna do the exhaust next. Stock with 3.73 gears the converter locked up at 40mph. With the 4.56's I think it can lock up at 32mph without any problems.

I read in the sticky the 4.8L likes a lot of timing. 30+ degrees. Is there a lot of power availbable with 93 octane and more timing?

The gears were changed from a 3.73 to 4.56 and speedometer is way off. Thats why I need a tune. Other wise I would wait till I could afford my own software.

If they dont mess with fueling and spark, especially the spark, There isnt much point of a tune except for speedo correction. You will be wasting your time spinning that high on a stock cam motor. I dam sure woudnt add spark to past 30 degrees, more spark doesnt mean more power all the time. After adding x degrees, it wont matter. Want to find x degrees, find a dyno.....

I'm sure for a little bit more, wheatley or blackbear could set you up with a much better tune.

IMO bud you need to just bite the bullet and get a good tune done. if you go with a mail order tune like wheatley or blackbear i think that would be your best option. besides, i think they both give free re-tunes when your mods change so there is really no reason to put it off and pay for it twice. from what i have read the 4.8s like high timing like over 30*. i dont know about your tune, but the stock tune for my 5.3 only had like 18* of timing at WOT

The tune is done. Truck runs a lot better. I told them to increase the timing a lil bit. Im not sure if they did but the truck seems louder since the tune.

The 32mph lockup is fine. Hopefully it will help gas mileage.

I had them set the shift points to 6300 1-2 and 6200 2-3. The tach is way off. Looks like its shifting under 6k. To be honest, the engine is still pulling at these shift points. I wonder if 6500 rpm shift point would be better.

Still having problems doing a burnout. I can get it to squeal from a stop but it hooks up pretty quickly. Its probably a good thing so I dont have to worry about wheelhop.

Next mod is the corvette servo. Even with 20% of the tm the shift is a lil slow. Then its cutting off the cats and an underdrive pulley. Then its to the track.
