I almost forgot. Im gonna have the converter lock up at 30mph. It currently locks up around 40mph. With the gears and shorter tires, the rpms will be the same at 30mph.

I hope this helps fuel economy.

Can anyone else think of anything? Im thinging of having the 1-2 shift at 6400 and the 2-3 at 6300 and the 3-4 at 6200. I dont ever plan on going that fast to shift into 4 at that high of rpms.

That reminds me I need to get the speed limiter removed.

Who is doing the tune? I am assuming that they are going to adjust your fueling and spark tables....

You want the TC to lock up at 30? maybe if your goin down hill. it would bog so bad it would down shift.. even 40 is kinda low in som situations.. a light foot is you best bet for better fuel economy.

You still haven't told us who is doin the tune....

I think you should just get your own tuning software and go at it yourself..

If ur dead set on those shift points, get your normal shifts at 6000 for 1-2 and 2-3.. and Tow/Haul set to 6300 or whatever u want.. I don't think its goin to help you that high tho.

speedinc is doing the tune. Its a bare bones tune. I dont think they adjust spark timing or anything. Should I have them adjust the spark? Its not goin on the dyno with a sniffer so I dont know if itd be a good idea to change the afr.

I think the 30mph lockup will be fine with the 4.56 gears. Maybe I will have it locked up at 32mph.

I would like to buy the software but I cant afford it right now. The busted g80 costed me a lot of money.

I diffently need a tune for the gear change. I like the idea of changing the shift points for towing/haul mode.

If they are not adjusting the spark or fueling, I would look into another tuner.... On a NA setup that is where you gain the most.... Spinning a stock motor on a stock tune up to 6400 would take forever....

Im not done with all the mods yet to justify getting a full tune. How bad is the stock tune? Could I just have them add a couple of degrees of spark and lean it out a lil bit?

Speed Inc should be able to give a generic tune that will have better performance but yet still be safe. With no additional fuel or spark what go is it to tune your truck

Let's put it this way; my low octane timing table is higher now than the stock high octane table. Also I have my converter set to not lock up at all in 3rd and at 45 mph in 4th. With the lower gears you might be ok with a lower lock up or stock.

Did you ever get your exhaust done?
