Default e-fan question

i put an e-fan harness on my truck that i bought from Blackbear, it works great but i want to run both power wires to the ecu. one is already on pin 10 (i think) which is controlled by temperature, the other is currently tapped into an AC power wire. the one in the AC power wire makes the truck surge. i dont want the other fan to only come on with the AC but rather set it at a slightly higher temp than the truck normally runs at in case it starts to overheat even without the AC on.

is there another pin on the ecu that is also temperature controlled?

the truck in question is a 2002 silverado. thanks

I just installed fans and a harness on my 2002 Silverado as well. Mine used Pin #42 for the temperature On/Off (Known as FAN #1 in HPTuners) setting, and also the AC trigger wire. I've read that Pin #33 (I believe it is) would enable/run the high speed (FAN #2 in HPTuners).

I have the same concern about only having high speed fans when AC is on, AND temperature being met. No idea how to bypass, or work around, the way it is now though. I'd like to be able to, even manually, turn on BOTH fans to high speed if needed.

There is an Idle Airflow setting that should be changed in the tune to compensate for the AC/fans.

maybe it was pin 42 that its wired up to, that sounds right anyway. i have a horrible memory

can anybody verify the pin 33 before i go tearing into things?

Pin 33 in the Red connector is the pin you need. You'll have to remove the wire for the recirculation door and change the tune in the PCM from recirculation door to fan #2. You'll also need to rewire the relay because the PCM supplies a ground.

I've been meaning to ask when I see these threads....Does this disbale your recirculation function?

It just disables the PCM control of the recirculation door. The HVAC module will still close it.

So I push the recirculation button and it works as normal right? When does the pcm do it on its own? I guess I'm asking what function do I lose from the pcm not being in the mix?
