Default differnce from 99 - 2008

Hey guys im thinking about putting a newer 5.3 in my truck. The one thats in it is just under 300,000 and its fuel milage has started getting terriable. And oil pressure is starting to drop off. I was wondering if the 2008 or newer blocks are any stronger and what all it takes to go from a 99 motor to a 08 or newer motor. If i do this ill probley go ahead and throw a cam in it put some good pistions in it and get a little head work done to chase a little power.

What all do i need to change over to put the 08 or newer motor in it. Or what year motor would u suggest

Id just get an 05-07 6.0..Its a direct swap and has a better bottom end than the pre 05's..
To run the gen 4 motor you'll need the knock sensor harness since they are on the side of the block. The crank sensor harness since its on the front cover vs the rear or the block..Both can be had from Lingenfelter..
