not trying to hijack the post... but my truck did something funny yesterday that might be related to this subject. I drove to cingular, truck runnin fine, got out, went inside for a damn hour.. gah that place sux.. anyway, come back out, cranked up the truck, and it wouldn't half idle, had to give it gas to stay cranked.. pulled out drove to a red light, same thing wanted to idle around 2-300rpms, pulled over, got on a road with no stops on it and ran it for a few miles, and everything seems fine now. Might do crank relearn on it just to have it done monday!

You will see a CKP sensor code of some type or more likely than not you'll get the lovely P0336 code.

Your SES light will come on if you need a relearn. P0336 is the most common code, but you can see CKP range or performance problem or something. In fact if you drive with it for awhile it might go away, but it'll just come back. It'll lie dormant for awhile. In my experience it has never left me stranded or made the truck un-usable. It just won't rev past 4000rpm usually without breaking up.

You need to perform a crank relearn via EFIlive, HPT or a Tech II. All you have to do is basically rev the engine as per the instructions on the screen and the software just puts the CKP sensor and cam sensor in synch with one another.
