Charging system problem
Hi
i own a 2002 silverado 1500. I recently upgraded to electric fans that i powered usingthe read terminal box in the engine bay. A couple months later the battery light came on and started blinking. I thought it was the alternator so i changed it with a new one. While doing this i discovered that the nut in the red battery box was loose so i tightened it and all was fine. It kept coming loose and i kept tightening it for about a week. I had to tighten it extremely hard though. So hard that the whole red box eventually broke and the line to the alternator broke as well.
I dont know why i have to tighten it so tight. Ive check the battery and alternator and cant figure out why it wont charge. Any help is greatly appreciated.
thx.

Start with what you ALREADY KNOW is effffed up. Not much sense in "troubleshooting" something when you already know what's wrong with it.
Go to yer local buzzard nest and gank another of that battery connection thing. See what that does for ya. Pay close attention to the connections in it, make sure nothing else is burned up, such as for instance, the fusible link from the alternator. In fact, might wanna gank that at the same time as the battery thing.
Make sure the terminal you added to it isn't fornicating it somehow.
Also, if you haven't already put on the 145A alternator, might wanna go ahead and just do that... the one that most likely came on your truck, isn't really big enough to run the truck AND the e fans esp at idle. Get the one for something like 2006 Escalade.

I already replaced the alternator with the bigger one and the battery terminal box and the alternator wire. It has the same poblem. I even tried it without the efans connected and i still had to tighten it so hard it almost broke.
