I did it, finally got the wire run, tied in behind the fuse and had music...then I started the truck and it said charging system issue. I went and got a scanner that pulled code p1516 which is apparently reduced engine power. I'd assume this is because of low voltage.

I took a multimeter to the alternator and it didn't show anything. I am a little ticked. This is a 2011 silvy ltz with 35K miles...it shouldn't have these issues.

Anyways I kinda need my truck for the weekend so if anyone has any ideas as to why the charging system would stop working please PLEASE give any and all advice. I really have no idea where to start, all I did was pull off the positive terminal...Nothing else was touched.

 

I would pull it straight from battery with a separate fuse and see if it changes anything.

 

How big is the amp? Power wire gauge? Big 3 upgrade?
