58x motor in 24x truck
#1
I have a 2001 chevy Silverado with a 5.3 in it. I got a ls2 from a tbss and it has the 24x relucter wheel on it but doesn't have the knock sensor in the valley.can I just bolt on all my 5.3 vally cover and all and just hook it up like it's a 24x since it has the 24x on the crank and would I have to cover the holes were the old knock sensor went in. And any info on if the cam and crank position sensors would work too becase its swaped over to the 24x on the crank

The knock sensor valley plate does not fit in the same spot, that is why it's not there on the LS2 engine.
The knock sensors are bolted to the side of the block just above the oil pan on each side, so you'd have to make the wiring and sensor work down there.
You'd need to make the wiring work for the cam sensor that is in the front cover too.

If the Crank is 24X, the cam wheel should be 1x
They make extension harness for the cam sensor to relocate the wire to the front cover where the gen 4 sensor is located.
You Need to use the round style Gen 3 knock sensor on the side of the block. The Gen 4 style will not work with your PCM.
You can drill and tap the block bigger or ICT make some adapters that bolt on to the block and allow you to screw the round style ones on.
