Default New crank sensor in 03+? (EDIT- Oil pressure sending unit)

Hey guys I was pulling the 5.3 out when I accidently broke the crank position sensor I figured I would just reuse the one out of the 2003 but it was very different. The 2000 one was a couple inches long and had a single pin in the plug, and the 2003 was very short and had 3 pins in it. Does anyone have any information on the changes in the sensors? A new one is going to cost me at least 40 bucks but I'm wondering why they were changed and what the two extra pins go to. They use a different shaped plug too. Thanks for any insight.

You sure you aren't getting the cam and crank sensors mixed up?

i think i read somewhere where the new crank sensors only have one oring or vice versa. if that is the case then one of them is the updated one. im just not sure which one.

Flyer, it's the sensor on the top of the block behind the intake manifold. I think it's the crank but I'm not 100%. Denali, any idea what the other two pins do? Because I wonder if there is a way I could splice the new connector into my harness.

sir i believe that that sensor is a knock sensor. the crank sensor is on the side of the block above the starter.

I think the one in the middle of the block is the cam sensor, the one on the right is the crank:

The blue wires go to the knock sensors:

You're right, denali. It's not the crank sensor But I don't think it's a knock sensor either. It's WAY back there, right above the fly wheel and it screws in with about a one inch nut on it. Man I'm confused now

EDIT: I found a pic in my manual, it's the sensor right beside the cam sensor, about an inch or less from it.

It's the "oil pressure sending unit" Is this just for the cluster? Or does it actually control the oil pressure?

Just for the gauge. The pressure is controlled in the pump itself.

Where is this sensor you're talking about again?

In your first pic, it's the one in the very center with the plug coming out of the top. You have the new unit. The old one sticks out about 2 inches more than that and is just asking to be broken off. Now if I could get the f***ing crank pulley bolt out for the ASP install I would be in business. Thanks for the help and the pics guys.
