Ok I have a 98 s10 4x4 and want to use a 2000 computer. Is this possible? Would anything need to be changed?

I'm just wondering whats to stop me for swapping in a 2000 computer and using HPtuners on my truck. I have access to a Hptuners wire for free. If the 98 and 2000 are the same part number why cant I just use it on my 98 computer?

I have been read and been told you can use ls1edit or HPtuners on 2000+ computers for a 4.3 v6 and if the 98 shares the same part # as the 2000 should it not work?

 

hptuners doesnt currently offer any tuning for 98 4.3 motors...you could try tunercat I believe they offer something for you fairly cheap.
