2001 Silverado electronic throttle body
#1
Hey guys, just wanted to see if anyone has worked with an 2001 Silverado 1500 with an electronic throttle body.
I am wanting to a to a nnbs swap and while in there I’m not gonna touch it again so wanting to get a nice throttle body for heavier mods later. Been find a ton of info in the 03 and up trucks with Fly by wire control but nothing in the 2001s. Not sure what my options are and havent really talked with anyone who has they keep insisting it was swapped into that but it isn’t. I can prove it since mileage # 3 on the truck. So I guess it’s kinda rare??
Asked my tuner if he has ever dealt with it and used an X-Ling like the newer models and he Has but it was a LONG time ago. (I guess I’m the idiot modifying my 01. Kinda late I guess lmao) but he did let me know it may use the same c5 TAC in those earlier years and doesn’t need a x link to control it but an adapter instead of a box control. But was sure 100%.
Just seeing if anyone had dealt with it and has any info or help.

Must be an ultra rare combo or something. They did start DBW in 2001 on the high end trims like the Denali for the Sierra/Yukon with the 6.0. Some suburbans even started around 2001-2002 as well.

All I know it does have the option to turn on and off traction control and it even came it a 2 tone color combo that is mostly seen on GMCs instead of Chevys. Some guy had special ordered it at the dealer when my dad was looking at the truck but decided on a different truck and my dad got this one.
Literally find zero info on anything in this thing. A blessing and a curse for these 1 off trucks.

Ive tuned a 2001 DBW Silverado before. They are indeed somewhat rare.
I think the red/blue PCMs with DBW do not need an X-link for TB upgrades, just a wiring conversion harness to convert the plug types.
