Boosted 2002 Tahoe
I’m looking to start a different project and need your help to decide if I should tear my Tahoe down and return to stock or sell as it is. I can get more details if needed but the mods I can remember off the top of myhead are;
408 CI iron block 58x , 2000 miles (10.4:1 w/the heads)--Short block---- $3200
WCCH heads/springs/valves Stage 2 CNC ($1800 new)-----------------$1200
TVS2300 front drive-------------------------------------------------------------$4500
8-rib set up/PS pump/Alt/2 Idlers/ Innovators West Balancer------------$500
Pat G spec’s cam 231/239 .598 .610 116LSA--------------Goes w/Short Block
Lingenfelter 24x to 58x conversion box-----------------------------------$150
GM 1.7 rockers (L92)------------------------------------------------Gowith heads
Built 4L80E (don’t know builder, bought on here, but it is perfect)-------$750
PI Triple disc converter---------------------------------------------------------$700
3.5” OD Aluminum driveshaft balanced to something ridiculous
Eaton posi/4.10 gears
Dyno’d 619 rwhp as it sits on 10lbs Tuned by Sam Miller in Dallas
Pacesetter LT’s 2.5”exhaust dumped at the rear bumper, Dynomax muffler
Walboro in-line 255lph pump
MSD Boost-a-pump wired to the in-line pump
Interior was been redone with leather covers and an entertainment system plus the dash bezel for the doubledin radio/GPS. Has some hail damage on the hood and 1 fender and the roof but it’s not terrible. Tires have lots of life and the front/rear AC blows very cold (I just put in a new compressor, dryer, etc..in it a few months ago) The stereo is more than most need, all upgraded speakers and 2 amps w/12’ sub in the back.
So here is question, tear it apart based on this price estimation on parts above (easily $10k in parts plus what I can get for the Tahoe after I drop another 5.3 and 4l60E in it) or sell it out right for $??? Maybe 17K?

Doesn't hurt to list it for sale as-is, but I think you'll have better luck parting it out and returning to stock. The problem with really nicely modded trucks is that most people don't have the cash to lay out $15-20k out of pocket, and a bank won't give out a loan for that much, since they only look at the value of a stock vehicle. I tried for awhile to sell my old blue truck as-is with no luck, and finally put it back to stock. The parts sold easily, and the stock truck sold easily.

I think you would come out ahead financially if parted out, assuming you have the time and do it yourself. If you don't have the time and have to pay a mechanic to do the work, that significantly eats up your profit. However, thunder is right about selling as is. Most that are willing to buy a modded vehicle such as yours likely does not have the cash to do so and would be unable to get a loan for the excessive amount over book value of it's stock equivalent.

i offered my truck for 18k as is, then eventually parted it and sold everything and made more than 18k. people fail to realize how much money is sunk into a nice build. also banks wont give a loan that big on a truck that books for 1/2 the asking price. that also makes it tougher.

Like other have said part it for sure. As much as that sucks to do you will come out ahead for sure. You can pickup a stock 5.3 and 4l60e for cheap. I just bought a 5.3 with 92k on it and a 4l60e with 120k on it for $875.00 you can't beat that. you will make that back easy selling all your other parts. in the ATV world guys put there bike up for sale all completely modded out they never sell and end up parting the and making more than what they were asking for the bike complete. I just bought a wrecked atv for 700.00 parted it all out 4 weeks after for $2500.00 and still have left over parts sitting here I haven't sold. So part out for sure, unless you get luck and find somebody with money thats wants to spend it.

I would part it out. As badass as it is, that would be a very unique buyer and would probably take months and months to find someone willing to pay a good price for it, if you ever could.
