Default so i need some help guys if anyone would like to give me some ideas

so im thinking of buying a single cab z71 4x4 silverado. BUT!
what i want to do is replace the entire engine to a duramax diesel engine.
is that possible?

or would it just be cheaper to get a single cab 2500 hd silverado long bed, cuz they dont make short beds and just turn the long bed into a short bed, cuz everyone knos long beds are nasty. is that possible too?

just need some answers cuz thx(:

It would be much cheaper and less of a PITA to get the factory DMAX truck. There was a guy down here my be that did just that, and last I heard, the build cost was well over 20k.

Yep, he took a regular cab Silverado and put a Duramax in it. Grafted on front end parts from a 2500 van, it really came out nice, and if you've got the money and patience to do it, than by all means. It much more than just dropping the engine in. Complete fuel system, suspension, trans, rear-end, etc...

PITA = Pain In The A**

ETA: Found the link to the truck https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...=look+unusual\

It certainly wouldn't be a simple swap. Some major fabrication involved.

The frame and wheelbase is your problem. You would need a bed and frame from a crew cab 2500. Cut and splice the front from the RC 2500 with the back half of the crew cab frame. Voila, RC short bed Dmax.

(There is a little more involved than the above post.)

Yeah, the easiest and most cost effective way would be to get a regular cab longbox 2500HD with a Duramax and convert it to a shortbed, i.e. cut/modify stock frame and find a used bed in good condition. This way the work would be limited to brake lines, fuel lines, fuel tank(smaller one), driveshaft, and of course cutting and welding the frame.
