Go cave exploring at Alabaster some time. You'll have to bring a Hard hat, water, flashlight, boots, and a partner. They let you go out to all the smaller caves and explore them. You just have to watch for rattle snakes and bats.
I think you'd like it. We went in boyscouts back when I was 15, I enjoyed it. There's one cave that's so cold it ices up.
Another you have to crawl through water to get through it. only a couple feet of clearance.

Here's a site with prices. Pretty reasonable.
http://www.touroklahoma.com/detail.asp?id=1+5U+920
Edit: I believe the prices listed are for the HUGE cave and not the smaller free lance caves. You may want to call for those ones.

cool, sounds like a wet/dry wash, gold does not move far in that type of river.
i have been to a few places in new mexico that when it is wet you can dreadge, when it is dry you have to dry wash.
a few guys i know will dry wash an area in to a large pyle and when it is wet they will run the pyle through a highbanker for the gold.
