[QUOTE=vanillagorilla;4134348] Firing white colar engineers and blue workers isn't the answer. Neither is moving production overseas. But then again getting paid $30/hr to install a dipstick tube is kind of ridiculous.QUOTE]
And its not that they're just firing white collar and blue collar workers, but they're firing co-ops too. I go to Kettering University which was formerly GMI (General Motors Institute) but we still have huge ties to GM and they dropped all of their co-ops. They get paid half of what normal engineers get and do the same work so it kind of seems pointless to fire them, I mean we're doing the exact same work for half the price.
Although this goes for any automotive co-op it seems like which is a shame.

That stinks.
However, if we will recall, hot rodding started, well, for a lot of reasons, but what I'm thinking of is that the performance stuff wasn't there. People had to be creative, pre-aftermarket. The aftermarket is going to take a boost, and automotive sports are still rising. Of course, we can take a hint from the muscle car era... base model with all motor. Doubtful it will happen, but I'd like to see a return of the dealership cars, such as, Baldwin-Motion (I'd love to see them do the new Camaro!)
