New Cummins HO 500hp!
#1
So this is general because it's more of a story.
So I am sitting in the local truck shop having my bed cover put on, when a guy pulls up in his new 2011 Ram 2500 diesel. He over hears another customer and I chatting about tuning possibilities and just generally having a pleasant conversation about her new ford HD and my Chevy HD. He says "oh, I have the new HO, it's 500hp and over 800 tq. Thing runs like a ravaged ape" I think, wtf, I haven't heard of this. So I go home, frantically look this up because I am a power freak and find out the guy has no idea what he's talking about. I got worked up over nothing. lol
Turns out, the HO was designed because the competition had stepped up their game, so Dodge came out with the HO to run competitive numbers with everyone else. It's rated at 390hp, but that hp doesn't kick in until highway speeds. Not sure if the duramax is the same in that aspect

dodge engines are so backasswards its a wonder they actually run. now, the cummins is still a badass engine, and i would still probably take one over a duramax... but i would still rather have a chevy truck because of how much nicer they are

I drove a new GMC the other day and it felt close to my LBZ with a 90HP PPE. The 90HP PPE is FWHP. I need to drive another one since I put stock tires back on my truck but I can't really feel much difference.

I do feel that currently the Duramax is the best performing diesel, but that's not the point of the thread. The point was more that this moron butt in to our conversation, just anxious to brag, and didn't have a clue what he even bought. You should have heard him, he was all hyper about it. "oh yeah, getting a tune, pulling all the crap off the exhaust and running it straight the entire way...", and the fact that he thought it "ran like a ravaged ape" when the duramax actualy walks the Cummins in their current condition.

first we're talking about 3/4 tons here so, yea if I had one chevy would be the bottom of the list. second I drive the chevy in the sig because they're cheap. If I could afford a new half ton, you better believe a f150 or ram would be in the pic.
