Funny thing is that around here if you talk about someone at either a dealership or a parts house who knew thier stuff the name Kate Jackson is usually first mentioned. SHe was a sweet gal who worked at Autozone for years and knew more about cars than most of the mechanics who came in. Dealerships are hit and miss. I make sure I know what I am after before I go in. I had a guy at one dealership tell me that all speedometer gears on 700r4 transmissions were plastic and that the reluctor gear I had in my hand came off of somethign else.
I also lived in an apartment complex where a "ford certified technition" couldnt figure out how to get a gas tank out of an Explorer till I came out and told him how to do it, but what do I know I am only a scrap hauler (his words).
If I came out and found anyone under my hood I would not be happy. I found a guy in the trunk of my car once and he found himself looking down the barrel of a .45.

the funnier thing is that I saw the guy at the track tonight and some of his co-workers that witnessed the whole event. The others were genuinely interested and wanted to know more about it... he just kinda hung back and tried to give me some kinda look... but I didnt pay him any attention... I was waiting on him to ask me to race or something... LOL

I would of punched him and asked to see the manager. That's just not cool in my book. You don't take a peek under a guys hood just as you don't look under the skirt of another guy's girl. Not your business to be up in other people's goods. The guys at the dealership across the street from me aren't much better if worse when it comes to knowledge, however I'm pretty sure they also run a shady business. I had my truck broken into and in-dash TV and Nav unit stolen out of my driveway two days after going to the dealership. They were the only people who knew what was in my truck and I live in a dead end road/cul-de-sac not on a heavily traveled route. Makes me think they had guys scoping cars out at the dealership.
