LOL, nice. **** like that is why I do 100% of everything my self, aside from tuning. Dealerships = autozone. I'd take my truck to the speed shop any day for 2x the cost before it went to the dealer, warranty or not.

lol, my first time at the dealer after buying the truck was for a check engine light, the ****** tools tried to charge me to scan the PCM for codes...$55! I said no and they gave me my keys

im a bmw technician.

99% of mechanics or technicians or parts guys are not car guys. some of them used to be, but have grown to hate cars.

majority of them just couldnt figure out what to do for a living, and had a friend, dad, uncle etc get them the job.

Most things are hit or miss for me as a parts guy. There are some things that I really will look like an idiot if you asked me about them, but it is impossible to know everything about every car thats ever been made, every specialty or handling package, etc. And then there are some things (mostly concerning my truck, or similar platforms) that I can tell you more than most mechanics know about them.

But, for not having any sort of automotive school experience, and relying solely on the things I've learned from others and being on the job, I think I do a decent job.

I'm glad you owned that homo at the dealership btw, what an idiot.

the problem isnt people who know a lot, but admit they dont know it all.

its the ones that know a little and think they know it all.

I return from the parts counter to find the hood open and a young (early 20s) guy standing in front of the truck. ...I know more whats under this thing than you do." Probably the wrong thing to say to me since I just personally and single handedly rebuilt the entire drivetrain in the truck...and asked, "what kinda trans is in it?" He said, probably a POS 4L60, cant get anything else in there, its a half ton" I said... "well, wrong again, sorry man... you may not know quite as much as you think, and I'm not some dude with a truck with straight pipes and a superchip if you havent noticed" wasnt even worth explaining all that was in it...since its got 317 heads, but not a 6L, if we even got that far I would have spent an hour talking to the guy about it and enjoyed it if he would have just acted right about it and asked instead...

...I felt like leaving two big fat greasy black stripes all the way down the BRAND new concrete (new dealership) but decided against it. My tires dont have to pay for them being stupid LOL

I thought I just dealt w/ lazy ones?!
I loved the "you may not know as much as you think, and I'm not some dude w/ straight pipes & a..." That was awesome.

It took ***** to open your hood, then say he knows more what's under the hood than you.

I wish u would've done a big, nasty burnout. I gotta ask, if the GF wasn't w/. you, you would've smoked the tires all the way outta there, right?

If a guy can admit that, he's someone I'd want to deal w/. And true, a person can't remember everything, not even on 1 vehicle. I believe it's not knowin all the answers, but knowin how to get them. When I don't know, I usually know who to ask.

yeah, the guy was rather ballsy... I overheard one of the other guys in the back ground say, man, I've seen that truck around town... Its pretty strong... LOL

and yes, if she wasnt with me I probably would have at least lit them up pulling out... not into dealing with the cops here though, the average age of the local PD in my town is in their 20's as well (I went to HS with most of them) and they are absolute ******... Ive had both of my trucks searched sevral times in the past year or so... once because I had a tail light out LOL...

I was just curious on the price they could give me on some fans, I had no clue it would turn into what it did. I dont mess with anyone around here, most of the time I drive my slow *** S10 and mind my own business.

I would have shut his hands in it if he was opening it while I was walking out and I saw him... but he already had it opened leaning in the engine bay "inspecting" it by the time I got out there. he just stood with his hands on his hips as to suggest that he was about to "school me" on the truck I just built hahaha
