my latest dealership ordeal...

That wouldn't surprise me. I had a friend who's mustang got stolen about a month after visiting a performance shop in Houston. He just woke up one morning and it was gone. Never to be seen again. I think they made a copy of the key and the alarm clicker and just came and drove it off. You have to be careful who you let around your vehicle these days.

props to you man, you have more patients than I do. If I came out and someone had opened my hood and started snooping around they would have either seen my fist flying or the barrel on the G23! I barely let my friends look under the hood of my truck, not that there is anything special there but it is mine and not anyone else's to be dickin around with stuff under there. But then again he know's more than you right?

You sir, are far more patient than I would've been. I work at a local GM dealership behind the parts counter, and most are just button pushers waiting for 5 o'clock. A few guys I work with won't even attempt to look anything up without a vin, not sure why. It's much easier with the vin, but in your case you actually know what you need so it's just as easy. It's a hit or miss, I know first hand most parts guys are dicks. If you'd like a price or part numbers on things in the future send me a PM and i'd be glad to find what you need. I just wish it was more than a job to more/all that do it. It would make everything so much better.

...You don't take a peek under a guys hood just as you don't look under the skirt of another guy's girl. ...I had my truck broken into and in-dash TV and Nav unit stolen out of my driveway two days after going to the dealership. They were the only people who knew what was in my truck and I live in a dead end road/cul-de-sac not on a heavily traveled route. Makes me think they had guys scoping cars out at the dealership.

I figured that kind of **** went on. DTA! That's another reason I prefer to do my own work or have my friend help what I don't know/ need help on. People can't just make an honest livin. Gotta screw w/ others ****! pissed:Rotten POS (plural)!
Did you ever talk to cops on that? I bet you would've loved to caught em red-handed.

Sometimes a VIN isn't needed for some generic parts. What makes it so special to have the VIN for the specific parts? I figure it eliminates parts not specific to a customer's ride.

Yep, i would have pulled the ole LCP out and asked him nicely to back away before you took action. Shoot your lady was in the truck, you have plenty reason right there.. haha..
You just had to go to the dealership huh? Always stirring up trouble

I'd be pretty careful about who you're poping the hood for. I'm sure you like showing off your build. . . . but it's way too easy to pop the hoods from the outside . . . and then it's gone

Cause they're lazy? If a parts guy is busy, then said parts guy might, might have a valid point. Otherwise, they get paid by the hour. Shouldn't be no skin off their nose(s). Plus, if they're cool & they cut me a break, I'll give them my business Again & AGAIN.I'll even send more biz their way.

I just meant, what was it's value in parts ordering? Ya know what I mean?
That's what I thought you guys do w/ it tho; it dials it in that much quicker.
I originally thought parts guys used it so the average Joe couldn't clone a particular vehicle. A counter-counterfeit check if you will.
