Default Lincoln LS

A little off topic here but...

I have a friend with a 2003 Lincoln LS. The car has the 3.9 V8. Just browsing the net, it doesn't look like there is a very big aftermarket offering for this car. So far we have have programmed it with an SCT programmer.

Is there anybody that has ever owned one? Are there any other programmers such as HPTuners that support this car?

I did read that certain aftermarket parts for the Ford Thunderbird work with the Lincoln LS. Is there any truth to that?

Believe that motor was also in the Taurus SHO a few years. I do know there was a class action lawsuit against Ford over the cam gear breaking and pretty much ruining the engine. Don't know the result of it but found it years ago when trying to fix a SHO with a broken cam gear.

I know a guy that had a 100 progressive shot on his and it ran 13's. You can find videos of it online. It is now turbocharged with a custom/universal STS kit.

I work for the private end of o'reilly's, also known as "Parts City Auto Parts" here in ND. It's possibly just a midwest thing. But yeah, we ordered up a K&N Typhoon intake for the damn car

I will say that killing a Cobalt SS is no problem with this car. For what it is in stock form, the fugger hauls ACE!

He does want to spray it, but we're not sold on a certain kit yet. My buddy wants to run a dry shot. How much nitrous can the 3.9 take before we start breaking things? Not afraid of it happening, being as we have a shop to work in, but he wants to start small and go from there.

I will definitely be browsing google for info on the cam gear breakage...

thanks guys

From what I read back in the day you could drill and pin the gear or weld it to give it extra strength. Both are not to hard to do but if you were to choose to weld it really needs to be done by someone who's pretty damn good. With either option I would think you would need do some measure of rebalancing the cam to make sure it's true. Also you might want to check the price on the cams before you go to just trusting anyone to mess with them, If I remember right it was around a grand for the 1 cam we put in the SHO. Didn't fix it and to my knowledge the car is still sitting with a bad motor but good cams to this day. If the cams will work in the ls and the car is still there I'm sure I could get you a good price on them or the whole car if you needed parts? If you need to just pm me and I'll get with the owner and see if he still has it.
