I didn't know the guy, but I saw the video on TV and the last explosion was just horrible. I hope they can implement some kind of new system to remotely stop or slow the cars when the driver is unconcious and/or the parachute is damaged.

this one could have been prevented. NHRA needs to take a stand and make these tracks have a decent sized slow down section. did they really think that sand trap would do anything???

I gotta say, that sand trap is pretty sad. You could probably ride your bicycle thru it.
Ofcourse the track wasn't built with 5 second cars in mind, but I guess that's how life goes, we out grow everything. Time to put class ratings on tracks. Can't land a 747 Jumbo jet at the local airport.
