Default Towing question.

Sorry guys, I'm a rookie here. I usually post on LS1Tech, but I herd this was the place to go for truck discussions and questions.

My father has a 05 Silverado 2500HD, and is thinking about trading it in on a new Yukon Denali. He pulls around a 7500lb trailer Monday - Friday but doesnt know if the yukon would be able to pull that weight. Neither do it.

So heres my question, how will the Yukon Denali hold up when pulling a trailer thats about 7500lbs?

Thanks,
- Mike

i wouldn't go with anything less than a 2500 pulling that much weight 5 days a week.

I think the new Yukons are ugly.

That aside. The XL is available in a 360hp 6.0 with 4.10 gears. The 3/4 ton is also available in a 6 speed. Advertised with Towing Capacity of 9,700lbs.
Seems like GMC's site is saying if you get a 3/4 ton it's only available with 3.73's, but that's an easy fix.

So i'm sure it will do it. But it's going to get thirsty.

the question isnt weather it will do it cause they both will, but since hes doing it monday to friday he should definently look into a 2500, and if he really has the money to throw he would love the diesel if he tows that much, but as long as whatever he gets has a 6.0 with decent gears he should have no problem

my vote is no considering the full time AWD, I towed my lawn trailer once with my dad's Denali and got like 8-9mpg while towing in town. Go for the new HD he won't be disappointed

2500HD crew cab 4.10's and STS kit.
Then he don't have to worry about the price of diesel.

K2500 Yukon XL. Intake, exhaust and tune and that'll be about as fast. Motor Trend Tested a K2500 and it ran the same speed in the 1/4 as a 1500 6L Suburban w/ 4.10s. but the K2500 had 3.5 mph on it by the end. I'd say tune that 3/4 ton and slap some 285s on it and that would be a nice truck.

I thought you couldnt tow with STS Kits.

My boss has a STS turbo kit his Trailblazer SS and in the box, there was this packet that said on the back that you should not tow with it or something to that nature? I didnt read it over too good but I remember seeing that.

There just trying to cover there ***, I towed a lot when I had the STS and I tow with my front mount too. Lots of guys tow with them. You just have to set it up as a tow rig with only about 5 psi of boost, a good tune and gauges, a good intercooler and meth would be ideal.
