I spent a weekend in Texas in February. There was nothing better than getting on the plane in -15c cold and getting off in 25c heat. That pretty much made the decision for me. Plus all of the people I met were great. Everything and everyone was so much more laid back. Plus, walking into a gas station and picking up a case of beer for a fraction of the price it is here kicks ***.

Are you wanting to stay in the oil industry? If not check into Arizona. I am born and raised in Alaska (also oil industry) but have had family in AZ for years and love that state. If I was to ever move to a warmer climate I would be looking around there.

Warm is nice but 100+ for 3-4 weeks at a time with no percipitation at all is a little ridiculous. I'd say as far as oilfield work goes, my part of Texas has a lot going on and from what I know of everyone that works in the oil field here (family members too) the pay seems pretty decent for sure depending on what part of it you're in on.

If you own your place in Leduc, or at least a bit of it, you could be a baller on a budget in Tejas. Cool truck scene too. However, you are a treasonous deserter. I shall pray for your evil soul.
