Default Car insurance rip off?

Was previously insuring 2 cars with state farm, now just the truck. Was paying $89/mo and now they are raising my premium to $126/mo, JUST LIABILITY. Seems like I'm getting screwed bigtime. I'm 30, no at fault accidents. Stop sign ticket 3 years ago which was dismissed after defensive driving. I was hit 2-3 years ago in my other car by an uninsured driver doing 10k in damage. I had to pay my deductible and state farm covered the rest. The uninsured pos was sued by my insurance company and i haven't heard from them since (and don't expect to). Methinks its time to shop around but wanted to get input before hand.

15 minutes could save you 15%... In all seriousness, my truck with full coverage + modifications, 04 Accord (liability only), and my Grom (full coverage) cost me 130/mo through Gieco. I have a couple tickets, 1 at fault accident. Im 26, and I kinda live in the hood a bit.. They have been good to me for 4/5 years.

Jebus, it must be because of the area you live in that rates are that high.

I am still on a multi car plan with my parents/sisters and I pay around 70 a month for full coverage on my 2012 silverado. A while back I think we asked how much I would be on my own it was 100-120 a month for full coverage being only 24 years old. I live north of the twin cites where we have no real crime to speak of at all. We have AAA and they have been awesome for us.

You lost a multi-car discount.

It's something like 20-30% savings when you have more than 1 vehicle on the policy.

Call and ask them. I bet that is what they tell you.

But, if you're shopping around, loom at Geico. I've had them for years and they have fixed my truck 3x now, no questions asked.

You're absolutely right, I lost multi car discount.

I will look at Geico, however I did a quick google search on them yesterday and came across a lot of negative comments.

I think your credit plays a factor too. I found out that when you call to fire them, they will transfer you to customer retention and drop your rates in half.

What was the other vehicle you dropped of your policy? Trucks cost more to insure than cars and if they had the other vehicle as the primary and your truck as the recreational vehicle on the policy, changing the truck to primary and losing the mulit vehicle discount is what killed it.... Im paying about 130/mo through nationwide, and have three vehicles two of which are full coverage with GAP and they dont understand full coverage on my 99 so they keep dropping it to liability.... Looking at the breakdown, i am paying almost as much for the liability on the 99 as i am full coverage on my camaro... And the yukon is about half of my premium...they charge more to insire trucks because they are heavier and typically do more damage and the cost to replace them is theoretically more than a car...

If credit plays a role, that should lower my rate.

I'm usually pretty passive when it comes to price hikes (i.e. 24 hr increasing my monthly from 42 to 45) but this is just uncalked for.

I cancelled my last policy because everytime they renewed it the premium when up, started out at 85/mo and ended up almost 200, and never had an accident, ticket or anything else and "flo" couldnt explain why they were increasing it!!

I suspect same thing is happening here. If so, reminds me of Comcast...worst company ever.
