You guys get to have all the fun. Even suggesting to bypass a heater core might get you punched in the face around here.

The switch is set to 0. It lets air in through the vent in the cowl no matter what unless the A/C is on and set to recirculate. There is no way to change that if the A/C fan is off.

Correct! On 99-02 models, blower fan switch turned off opens fresh air duct(vent). Outside air blows in. Not sure on 03+ models, but I THINK they are the same, just not positive.
