Wouldn't the g80 be included with the tow package? I thought if you opt for the tow package you got the g80, tranny cooler, and frame mounted trailering hitch with 7 wire?????

I was also under the impression that all Z71's were either 3.73 or 4.10?????

Many years ago a buddy of mine had a Flowmaster put on his 1997 Z71 and came to me asking why his truck sounded so bad. I started it up and it didin't sound too bad, but it was different!! I checked out the muffler, it was a Flowmaster, I opened his hood and found a Vortec 4.3 under there. I thought this was strange because the truck was ECSB and 5 speed. He said that's why he bought it because it was standard shift.

My 97 RCSB was a Z71, it came with the 5.0 and the shifter on the floor with a 5spd manual. My Y2K ECSB is a Z71 with the red shocks, limited slip dif, plastic/metal skidplates, shifter on the floor, bench seat with center flip down console, tow package and 5.3. My Y2K is also a LS package. I think that the LT package came with the leather and that center console all the way to the bottom of the dash? That is where you get the push button, cuz no room for shifter. My buddies 02 GMC QCRB is a 4x4 and he has push button I think but the bench seat???? Can't remember but it does have a lot to do with "where the truck was in the assembly line"???!!!

Now did you know this that the new trucks (I think they started in with the 07 classic but I could be wrong). You can get a 2wd Z71 package! The only difference in them is that you get either a 2wd with a Z71 sticker or a 4wd with a Z714x4 sticker.

I've had two Z71's one a 2000 chevy with 4.10's, and my 03GMC with 3.73's both have the G80. I wouldn't get too depressed about not having the G80, they are un predictable, and break if your not careful. I would just get a true track.
